S. Terry Lee is a family mediator, QDRO preparer, and certified legal document preparer; he is not licensed to practice law in Arizona.
Terry received his Bachelor of Science in Laws (B.S.L) degree from Western State University in 1974 and his Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.) degree from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego in 1976. He practiced law from 1977 until 1989, at which time he sold his practice and devoted his time to pursuit of his “Ironman” goals. After completing the Ironman Triathlon™ four times, including the Hawaiian Ironman™ in October of 1991, Terry relocated to Phoenix where he changed the focus of his work from litigation to mediation, while keeping current in the law by doing legal writing and research projects for attorneys, including a significant amount of appellate work on some cases that changed the way law is practiced in Arizona. Terry is not licensed to practice law in Arizona.
Because Terry spent his first year in law amending private profit sharing and pension plans to conform with ERISA (then only recently enacted), he is very comfortable researching, drafting, and pre-qualifying domestic relations orders (QDROS) and other types of technical retirement plan division orders upon divorce for attorneys, the court, and private parties. Terry was designated an ‘expert witness’ in the area of QDROS for a Maricopa County Superior Court in 2014.
